Dr. John K. Estell
Dr. John K. Estell is Professor of Computer Engineering and Computer Science at Ohio Northern University, where he primarily teaches first-year programming. His research involves design education pedagogy, including developing rubrics for formative assessment of client-student interactions, creating models illustrating the various sources of design constraints, and applying the entrepreneurial mindset to first-year programming projects. He is an ABET Commissioner, a co-founder of The Pledge of the Computing Professional, and one of the organizers of ASEE Active! events at the Annual Conference. He has been an ASEE member since 1993, is Chair of the First-Year Programs Division, and was named an ASEE Fellow in 2016.
